Cantarriján: Playa Cañuelo

Walk with Sexisenderistas

Spanish

This is an easy, short circular walk from Playa Cantarriján to Playa Cañuelo. This walk is 6km long and take approximately 3 hours to complete.

LONG DESCRIPTION

This cirular route is an easier, shorter version of the Cerro Gordo - Cantarriján - Cañuelo walk. It only takes about 3 hours to complete and so it would be perfect for a day when you fancied eating at one of the chiringuitos on Playa Cantarriján or having a picnic and spending the day on the beach.

It begins in the Cantarriján carpark, where there is plenty of space to park. We cross the river and then walk up the path to the top of the hill. This is the steepest part of the walk. Once at the top, we make our way down to Playa Cañuelo, passing a small chapel on the way.

We walk along Playa Cañuelo and follow a small path up and over the cliffs (Acantilados de Maro - Cerro Gordo). There are fantastic views of the bays below from here. We then walk back down the Cantarriján carpark.

Note that at certain times of the year it is not possible to drive down to the car park. You have to use a shuttle bus. At the time of writing this (May 2023) Road access is cut off between 15th June until 10th September. If you want to be 100% certain of   the dates phone 958 14 52 00.

Note: The GPX time is the time on the GPX file. The GPX might not be accurate if during the walk the walkers went for a meal for example. Naismith is a formula based on distance and elevation.
